A Step Above

Spillane has been remodeling homes for years, and he always makes it a point not to rush a project

There are countless television shows based on the concept of buying older homes, remodeling them as quickly as possible, and reselling them for a profit. These “house flipping” shows, including “Property Brothers,” “Kitchen Crashers,” and “Flip or Flop” have grown increasingly popular in recent years.

This project bears a certain resemblance to the goals of those television shows, however, the quality of the end product is distinctly higher.

Spillane has been remodeling homes for years, and he always makes it a point not to rush a project. Oftentimes shows like “Flip or Flop” will focus on speed and a goal to turn a profit as quickly as possible. However, when this happens, many important details can fall through the cracks.

When Spillane approaches a remodeling project, his goal is quality. What makes his work unique is the care he puts in, the use of quality materials, and a final product that is not solely a house turned for profit, but a space ready to be turned into a home for decades. Spillane refuses to simply meet the bare minimums of a home remodel. As he put it, that’s just like “putting lipstick on a pig.”

When Mike remodels a home, he gives it completely new life.
